Amy Miller joined Beginnings as the Studio Teacher in 2009. She has a BS in Visual Art with a minor in art history from Pace University and an MA in Art Education from Teachers College, Columbia University. Amy has taught art classes for a variety of ages, from 2-3 year olds to adults with disabilities. Amy is a visual artist who specializes in stone carving and sculpture. |

Angie Bendezu has been teaching at Beginnings since 2006. She has a BA in Early Childhood Education from CCNY, and is currently enrolled in a Masters program in Early Childhood Bilingual Special Education at Bank Street College. Angie has been working with children for over fifteen years in schools, home settings and tutoring. |

| Beau Edmondson |
Beau Edmondson started teaching at Beginnings in 2008. He received a BA in Theatre and English from NYU. He has taught private music lessons to children since 2004 and, in addition to teaching at Beginnings, is currently the music teacher for first through eighth grade at Brooklyn Heights Montessori School. |

| Beth Tiegs |
Beth Tiegs joined Beginnings in 2008 with a background in yoga and performance. She holds a BA in Theatre Arts and English Literature from the University of Minnesota, studied movement based/actor created theatre and holds certifications in adult, prenatal and kids yoga. She has been teaching theatre, movement and yoga to children for over 9 years. |

| Colleen Goddard |
Colleen Goddard has been teaching at Beginnings since 1994 and has been the Child, Family and Teacher Specialist since 2009. She is a graduate of The American Academy of Dramatic Arts, Empire State College and Pacific Oaks College where she received her master’s in Early Childhood Studies. She is currently a PhD student at Fielding Graduate University, studying Human Development and Transformative Learning. Colleen has taught courses in Mindful/Reflective Teaching and wrote and performed in a film about childhood cancer, which received The Parent’s Choice Award for excellence in educational programming. |

| Debbie Biegelson |
Debbie Biegelson joined the teaching staff at Beginnings in 2010. She has a BS in Nutritional Science and Design and Environmental Analysis from Cornell University and an MS in Nutrition and Public Health from Teachers College, Columbia University. Subsequently, she spent many years working as a nutrition educator in New York City. Debbie has been an Assistant Teacher at Trevor Day School and an instructor at the “Parkbench at the Y” program of the 92nd Street Y. She is currently working towards a Masters degree in Elementary Education at Bank Street College of Education. |

| Denise Latella |
Denise worked at Beginnings from 1999 - 2006, primarily as a teacher with the 2s and toddlers. She returned to our teaching staff in 2011. Denise has a certificate in childcare from NYU as well as a Child Development Associate certificate. In addition to her work at Beginnings, she has also worked with children in private playgroups, taught Sunday school and started a summer program for young children at a church. |

Diana Hung-Jar joined Beginnings in 2008. She graduated from Boston University’s Sargent College of Health and Rehabilitation Sciences with a BS in Speech, Language and Hearing Sciences. Prior to working at Beginnings, Diana taught at a charter school in Manhattan and also worked in speech therapy and as a reading tutor in Boston, Massachusetts. |

Diana Tobon started teaching at Beginnings in 2011. She has a Bachelors degree in Psychology from Hunter College of the City of New York. Prior to joining Beginnings, Diana taught Pre-K at ABC Preschool and Kindergarten Center in Woodside, NY and taught Spanish to children for eight years at Language Workshop for Children in NYC. |

Ellen Blomberg began teaching at Beginnings in 2003. Previously, she taught for two years at the First Church Nursery School in her hometown of West Hartford, CT. She graduated from Curry College in Milton, MA in 2001 with a dual BA in Visual Arts and Education. |

Emily Kahn joined Beginnings in 2008. She has a B.S. in Early Childhood Education from the University of Vermont. Before working at Beginnings, Emily taught 4 and 5 year olds at Bergen Family Center, a Reggio-inspired preschool in Englewood, NJ. |

Eve Apodaca started teaching at Beginnings in 2011. She has worked in schools in New Mexico and as a head teacher of Preschool of America in New York City. Eve has a Bachelors of Science in Family and Consumer Science from

| Jacob Cohen |
Jacob Cohen joined the teaching staff in 2010, but has been a member of the Beginnings community since 1988 when he attended Beginnings as a child. Jacob has a BFA in Studio Art from NYU. In 2007 Jacob was an apprentice to Robin Koo in the Beginnings Studio and also worked at Beginnings summer camp. Jacob returned to Beginnings after a two-year journey in Europe where he worked as an artist assistant for a prominent American artist. |

Jared Hansen started teaching music at Beginnings in 2011. He received his Bachelor of Music from Nebraska Wesleyan University in 2006 and has been teaching piano and voice in theater programs, public schools, and private studios for eight years. In the summers he has worked at Camp Greylock in Massachusetts and with the Institute of Reading Development. |

| Jeanette Birondo-Goddard |
Jeanette Birondo-Goddard is from the Philippines. Since 1984 she has worked with children and youth in various places and capacities, including in war-ravaged Nicaragua as part of the peace-building efforts from 1991-1995. Before joining Beginnings in 2007, Jeanette taught for eight years at the Early Childhood Development Center, a program of the University of Notre Dame and St. Mary’s College in Indiana. Jeanette is currently pursuing a Masters degree in Early Childhood Special and General Education at Bank Street College. |

Jeanne Graham has been teaching at Beginnings since March 2007. She received her BA in African American Studies and Sociology from the State University of New York at New Paltz. Before working at Beginnings, Jeanne worked with young children in day care settings, after school programs, and summer support children’s centers. Jeanne is currently pursuing a Masters degree in Early Childhood and Special Education at Hunter College. |

Jennifer Aziz started teaching at Beginnings in 2009. She has a BA in English from Barnard College and spent six years working in children’s book publishing. Jenny has a long history of working with children, including leading school tours through the Children’s Museum of Manhattan and tutoring. |

Jennifer Hartley began teaching at Beginnings in 2010. She received her Bachelor of Music with a focus in vocal performance from the University of Michigan. She has taught at Manhattan Country School, City and Country, Community Roots Charter School and P.S. 39 in Park Slope, Brooklyn. Jennifer is currently pursuing a Masters Degree in Early Childhood and Childhood General Education at Bank Street College of Education. |

Jennifer Irving started teaching at Beginnings in 2008, but has been a part of the school for many years. From 2004 to 2006, Jenn was a part of the collaborative partnership between Beginnings and the University of Vermont Campus Children's School, where she taught in their preschool classroom (4/5’s) for four years. Jenn received a BA in Early Childhood Education from the University of Vermont. In addition to her work at Beginnings, Jenn mentors a group of teachers at Riverside Church Weekday School.

Before working at Beginnings, Kaitlin taught 2 – 4 year old children in a preschool program at Jawonio, a community resource for children and adults with disabilities and special needs in Rockland County, NY. |

Kathryn Knighton started working at Beginnings as a substitute teacher in 2009 and joined the teaching staff in 2010. She received her BA in Sociocultural Anthropology and Elementary Education from Columbia University, School of General Studies. Prior to joining Beginnings, Kathryn worked in after-school programs and taught at GO Project Summer, Central Park East II and Barnard Center for Toddler Development. |

Kim Turnbull joined Beginnings in 2009. Before working at Beginnings, Kim taught at ABC Cassidy’s Place, Sarah Lawrence College Early Childhood Center, Central Park East School and City & Country School. |

Kris D’Agostino has been teaching at Beginnings since 2005. He has a BA in Literature and Creative Writing from Fairfield University and an MFA in Creative Writing from the New School. His first novel, The Sleepy Hollow Family Almanac, will be published by Algonquin Books in May of 2012. |

Laura Spaziani started working at Beginnings in 2010. She holds a BA in dance and philosophy from Hamilton College. While dancing for a company in Albany, NY, she taught modern and ballet technique to children ages 3-18. Laura also worked for many years as a teacher and artistic director at a performing arts camp. |

Lilla Chabler has worked at Beginnings since 2006. She is originally from Poland, where she studied Literature Education at University of Zielona Gora and was a middle school Polish grammar and literature. Lilla also worked as a volunteer in a kindergarten class for developmentally disabled children. |

Liz first taught at Beginnings from 1998 - 2007. After leaving briefly to teach in Florida and New Jersey, she returned to Beginnings in 2011. Liz has a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Sculpture from the School of Visual Arts, NYC and a Masters in Early Childhood Education from Bank Street College.

Lynnette Arthur has been teaching at Beginnings since 2001. She earned an AS in Early Childhood Education from B.M.C.C. and received her BA in Multi-Cultural Studies from City College. Before working at Beginnings, she was a performing arts teacher for 6 years. She helped establish the yoga program at Beginnings, and has also worked on educational videos for the Board of Education and Discovery Kids. Lynnette has a Masters degree in Early Childhood Education from Brooklyn College. |

Odette Schlee has been teaching at Beginnings since the program first began in 1983. Previously, she taught at the Washington Market School and administered home-based childcare for ten years. In addition to her work at Beginnings, Odette also teaches Sunday school at the All Souls Unitarian Universalist Church. |

Robin Koo has been teaching at Beginnings since 2001. She started as a classroom teacher with the 2’s and 4/5’s, and has been the Studio Teacher since 2006. She is also the coordinator for the Materials Center. Robin has a BA in Visual Art and Art History from Bowdoin College and received her MA in Art Education from Teachers College in 2009. Robin is a visual artist specializing in printmaking and fiber arts. |

Tania Molina started working at Beginnings in 2007. She moved to New York in 2005 from Puerto Rico, where she studied Theatre and French. During college Tania volunteered with children in low-income communities, which later evolved into teaching theatre to youth across the island. She holds a BA in Theatre from the University of Puerto Rico and a MFA in Theatre from Columbia University. |
